Taking Turns for Ngemgeh

Presentation focuses on the role of positive experiences for children with disabilities and positive relationships on individuals and families in transition. Invoking Ubuntu epistemology on family living, we explore the benefits of and challenges in ensuring quality of life of individuals with disabilities and their families adapting to a new cultural environment. As a result of this session participants will be able to: -reflect on immigrant experiences living with children with disabilities -imagine the resilience of immigrant families with children with disabilities -imagine the transformation of life-story and journey of hardship into love -assess the benefits of Ubuntu living for quality of life for a child with disabilities.
