Access to higher education for students with intellectual disabilities expanded with the passage of the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008. This session explores the involvement of College Administrative Professionals in the adoption and implementation of programs at institutions of higher education that received Transition Program for Students with Intellectual Disabilities grants. SWOT analysis will summarize critical aspects that influenced program adoption and implementation. By the end of this session, attendees will be able to: Summarize the role various College Administrative Professionals play in the adoption and implementation of programs for students with intellectual disabilities at institutions of higher education; Explain 5 factors that influence the adoption of programs for students with intellectual disabilities at institutions of higher education; Discuss challenges to program adoption and implementation that institutions of higher education experience; Produce a list of action steps institutions of higher education may take to sustain programs as grant funding comes to an end; Discuss how institutions of higher education can utilize strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, & threats (SWOT) analysis in strategic planning for adopting or sustaining programs for students with intellectual disabilities.
