Project MATH: inclusive math education for students with severe intellectual disability

This presentation focuses on the findings of a single-subject research study that investigated the effects of embedded instruction in the general education math classroom to support three students with severe intellectual disabilities demonstrate generalization of taught early numeracy skills, and gain grade aligned skills acquisition in inclusive classrooms.  1. As a result of this session participants will be able to identify what “embedded instruction” is and is not.  2. As a result of this session participants will be able to list 3 As a result of this session participants will be able to identify 3 next steps” to set up embedded instruction in the inclusive classroom.  3. As a result of this session participants will describe who, how, and when embedded instruction can facilitate student learning.  4. As a result of this session participants will be able to list three strategies to build grade aligned academic learning goals in the inclusive classroom. Specifically in the area of elementary mathematics.
