The power of film, stories, and 30 + years of research will be used to demonstrate how the inclusion of students with disabilities in general education classrooms creates equity and excellence for ALL. The positive educational outcomes realized through an inclusive educational model led to the development and implementation of the federally funded the School-wide Integrated Framework for Transformation (SWIFT) Center. SWIFT, established in 2012, is a national K-8 technical assistance center focused on providing academic and behavioral support for all students, including those with the most extensive needs. This session will highlight the goals and activities of SWIFT along with a vision for a future where ALL students are presumed to be competent learners and are welcomed and supported in general education classrooms.
