New York State Project SEARCH: Transitioning Students into Careers

Project SEARCH is a successful high school transition-to-work program for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It is recognized for its innovative approach to providing job readiness training through collaborative efforts between business, education and vocational rehabilitative services. New York State has adopted Project SEARCH as a best practice model based on positive employment outcomes, which far exceed the national average. a. Participants will gain a basic understanding of the Project SEARCH model components. b. Participants will learn how Project SEARCH is replicated and supported in New York. c. Participants will be able to summarize lessons learned from Project SEARCH in terms of improving transition-to-work outcomes. d. Participants will gain knowledge of employment outcomes associated with the New York State Project SEARCH effort.
