Interdependent Community Inclusion

This presentation will offer an argument and solutions in favor of people with disabilities transitioning from nursing homes to interdependent, community living experiences. Public/mass transit needs to be accessible to all PWDs to manage a secure, inclusive, community-based lifestyle without dependence on intermediary agencies. Accessible/affordable housing is interconnected with accessible transportation in the real lives of people with disabilities, especially to gain/maintain employment.

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. 1. Examine the interconnections among accessible housing, transportation, and employment in one’s own environment
  2. 2. Grasp potential solutions to seek out when negotiating one’s own future goals
  3. 3. Utilize techniques to research interdependent living options in one’s own environment
