Georgetown University Certificate in Early Intervention (GU CEI)

Early intervention providers who can effectively partner with families of young children and focus on promoting a family’s ability to recognize their child’s strengths early on to support their development toward independence set the tone for a future of possibilities. The poster describes how the Georgetown Certificate in Early Intervention meets the needs of working early intervention service providers to learn these critical skills. • Understand the unique aspects of the combined online and in person program to enhance the skills of new and working early intervention service providers including service coordinators as adult learners • Understand the competency based objectives of  the program including the importance of relationship based partnerships with families, team based decision making, coaching and primary provider practices, and leadership to promote systems changes • Understand the components and resources available in the program both online and in person • Understand the knowledge and skill changes made by early intervention providers to effectively evaluate needs & strengths of children, modify services & supports, and prepare families for  transition
