This session will present a step-by-step framework for designing adaptations, evaluating their need and effectiveness, to promote full and meaningful student participation and access. Specific examples will be provided. This session will present a step-by-step framework for designing adaptations for students with disabilities in inclusive settings. The framework will focus on how general and specific adaptations can be put in place that allow students to be successful in general education settings, and will provide specific examples of how teachers and paraeducators can gather required information to promote maximum engagement and learning for all students. A brief overview of the current research will be provided, followed by detailed strategies for determining if an adaptation is needed, if the adaptation developed is appropriate for a given student, how effective the adaptation is in promoting meaningful access, and how effectively it is promoting student learning.
