College and Career Readiness for Students with Significant Cognitive Disabilities

This workshop will introduce the major components of Common Core College and Career Readiness (CCR). CCR will be introduce at multiple levels of cognitive development so all students will be able to achieve success in the five components. Focus will be directed to students with moderate to severe/profound disabilities. At the end of this session, participants will be able to: 1. Identify how each of the five components of college and career readiness apply to every academic content subject area and lesson. 2. Incorporate college and career readiness into Individual Education Plan goals and objectives. 3. Give concrete examples for each of the college and career readiness components in action with students with moderate to severe and profound disabilities. 4. Demonstrate that the common core standards alignments with college and career readiness are applicable to all students regardless of severity of disability. 5. Learn to articulate how current practice correlates to college and career readiness best practices for all students.
