A Space to Learn Together … and From Each Other
The Community Gathering is a space for dialogue, innovation, hospitality, color, music and sharing that invokes a feel for community living at the TASH Conference. All are welcome to join in this social and learning space occurring Thursday and Friday during the conference.
The Community Gathering is a place for self-advocates, parents, professionals and anyone who feels passionately about full inclusion in the community. Participants can use this space to spark new ideas and discuss creative, effective practices. It is also a place where conversations emerge through shared stories and facilitated dialogue that lead us toward taking our place as full and contributing members of our communities.
Though there is a schedule for the Community Gathering, much of the activity is unplanned by design! All conference-goers are invited to stop by, pitch ideas for conversations and watch as they take root and grow through open discussion with others through a process called the Open Market.
There are also planned events during the Community Gathering. Please check the schedule by clicking on “Community Gathering” at the bottom of this page. Participants are strongly encouraged to drop by at the opening of the Community Gathering on Thursday to meet other conference attendees and to suggest topics for the Open Market.
The closing of the Community Gathering on Friday is also an opportunity to celebrate the community we have created and reflect on how it can influence our work and lives going forward.
